The easiest way to peel Beans for Moi moi and Akara (in less than 15 minutes)
Moi moi and akara are popular street food sold everywhere. They are made with beans and enjoyed with bread, garri or pap.
However, some people who tried making it by themselves at home have had difficulty in the peeling process.
This post is therefore written to show you the easiest way to go about it.
Let's get started.
Soak your beans for 2 minutes (maximum).
Sieve the water and set aside
Now, gently rub the beans against each other either with hand or pestle, depending on the quantity of the beans.
You will discover that the skin will peel off easily. After doing this a while, pour the earlier water into the beans .
Sieve the shaft and water away
Rub again and sieve again till beans is completely cleaned.
Soak the now cleaned beans (to become soft for grinding ) for some time, depending on type and quantity.
After that, add other things you want to grind it with , then grind and your moi moi mixture is ready.
*soaking the beans for just 2 minutes softens the skin and not the beans itself. This makes the skin easily come off. If you soak the beans for more than that, the beans itself will become soft and will keep breaking without peeling much skin. Causing the peeling time to be extended.
* the type of beans used is either white beans or usual brown beans. Some people say the black eyed beans are better, but I have never tried that.
